Direct-to-device (D2D) satellite communications company based in Chevy Chase, MD, is seeking a Human Resources Manager.Qualifications, skills, and all relevant experience needed for this role can be found in the full description below.Hours/Schedule40 hours/weekJob TypeContract to permLocation RequirementsChevy Chase, MD, can start hybrid while contractor, but if candidate is converted to direct hire, job will be mostly on-siteRate$65-$70/hourJob DescriptionAs the organization's first HR hire, the HR Manager will independently own the full HR function, including policies and compliance, the hiring plan and recruiting, onboarding, and the third-party benefits relationship, while partnering closely with the EVP, Operations & Program Management. This role suits an experienced, hands-on HR generalist who is comfortable building infrastructure in a lean, fast-paced environment.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook; ensure compliance with federal and D.C.metro-area employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, etc.).Build and execute the company's hiring plan in partnership with leadershipDesign and run the new hire onboarding program, including coordination with IT/facilities and 30/60/90-day check-ins.Serve as the primary liaison with the company's third-party benefits provider, including open enrollment and day-to-day plan administration.Own BambooHR administration, including employee data integrity, workflows, and HR reporting.Manage employee relations, performance management, and workplace investigations.Support compensation benchmarking and lead the annual performance review cycle.Other HR related projects as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.10+ years of progressive HR generalist experience, including time as a sole or senior HR leader in an organization of similar size (approximately 100-250 employees).Experience independently building or overhauling HR policies and employee handbooks.Strong working knowledge of federal and D.C. metro-area employment law.Hands-on experience with BambooHR.Experience managing a broker, PEO, or third-party benefits administrator relationship. xhyhwjd Experience in aerospace/defense, government contracting, or another regulated environment preferredPHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification preferred.
