Our client is seeking an experienced Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist to step in, take ownership of lab operations, and help build toward their goal of becoming a comprehensive resource lab for specialist referrals throughout South Florida. There is significant infrastructure work underway and a real opportunity for the right person to establish strong quality systems and shape the lab's future. 

Responsibilities:

Laboratory Testing & Operations

• Perform high-volume clinical testing across chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis, and microbiology (3,200+ tests/month)
• Conduct and document QC procedures, instrument calibrations, and preventive maintenance
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and resolve operational issues efficiently
• Maintain CLIA compliance and uphold all laboratory quality standards
• Manage inventory, supplies, and day-to-day lab operations

Quality & Compliance

• Own the QA program: maintain calibration records, document QC, and ensure all results meet established accuracy standards
• Serve as the primary point of contact for CLIA compliance and laboratory audits
• Partner with the technical consultant to implement improvements and support the EMR transition

Phlebotomy Oversight

• Supervise and coordinate the existing phlebotomy team
• Provide hands-on phlebotomy support as needed
• Ensure staff accountability and maintain a high standard of patient experience

Qualifications:

• Active Florida Clinical Laboratory Personnel License (required)
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific field
• Hands-on experience performing clinical laboratory testing across multiple disciplines
• Demonstrated experience with QC, instrument calibration, and CLIA compliance
• Experience in phlebotomy and/or supervising phlebotomy operations
• Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• ASCP Certification
• Experience in microbiology
• Background in outpatient or physician office laboratory settings
• Experience managing or transitioning laboratory information systems or EMRs
• Track record of leading quality improvement initiatives
