ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR

Hybrid or remote work is not available for this position.SUMMARYThe Accounting Supervisor is primarily responsible for overseeing Accounts Payable operations within a government contracting environment while assisting with broader accounting functions as needed. This role ensures the timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, subcontractor payments, employee expense reports, and disbursements while maintaining compliance with company policies, GAAP, FAR, DFARS, and DCAA requirements. The Accounting Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership to Accounts Payable staff, supports month-end close activities, contributes to audit readiness, and collaborates with internal departments to ensure efficient and compliant accounting operations.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESOversee daily Accounts Payable operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, subcontractor invoices, employee expense reports, payment runs, and account reconciliationsSupervise and develop Accounts Payable staff; assign work, review performance, provide training, and promote accountability and continuous improvementReview and approve invoice coding and payment transactions to ensure compliance with company policies, contract requirements, and applicable regulationsMonitor vendor accounts, resolve invoice and payment discrepancies, and maintain positive relationships with vendors and internal stakeholdersEnsure compliance with GAAP, FAR, DFARS, and DCAA requirements related to accounts payable and accounting operationsAssist with month-end and year-end close activities, including account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and supporting schedulesSupport project accounting, general ledger, payroll, billing, and other accounting functions as needed to meet departmental deadlines and business requirementsAssist with internal, external, and DCAA audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requestsReview accounts payable processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and reduce processing cycle timesSupport cash management activities by assisting with payment planning, cash forecasting, and vendor payment schedulingMaintain accurate accounting records and ensure documentation is retained in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirementsCollaborate with Contracts, Payroll, Billing, Human Resources, and Program Management teams to support operational and compliance objectivesPrepare and analyze AP-related reports, aging schedules, and other financial information for management reviewServe as a backup for other accounting functions and provide cross-functional support during peak workloads, staff absences, and special projectsQUALIFICATIONSEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent experience5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant Accounts Payable responsibility2+ years of supervisory or team lead experience preferredExperience in government contracting strongly preferredExperience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting supportExperience with Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP system preferredExperience supporting internal, external, and DCAA auditsExperience working with subcontractor invoicing and government contract requirements preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong knowledge of Accounts Payable processes, internal controls, and accounting principles (GAAP)Working knowledge of government contracting regulations, including FAR and DFARSUnderstanding of project accounting, cost allocation, and indirect rate environmentsStrong leadership, coaching, and team development skillsExcellent attention to detail and organizational abilitiesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgmentProficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systemsAbility to collaborate effectively across departments and build strong working relationshipsCommitment to continuous process improvement and operational excellenceWORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWork is primarily performed in an office environmentOccasional extended hours may be required during close cycles and auditsPhysical activities include sitting, standing, and occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds)Must adhere to company safety policies and proceduresPosition is available in Rio Rancho, NM.
