AZDOT Financial Management Services is seeking a local Phoenix, AZ Accounting Specialist I to support accounts receivable collections, revenue processing, banking transactions, and general ledger accounting functions. The role involves collecting delinquent accounts, processing payments, reconciling accounts, maintaining financial records, and providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced, multitasking environment. This position is 100% onsite and requires candidates to be available for in-person interviews and able to start within two weeks of an offer.

• Collect and manage receivables, including returned payments, fuel tax assessments, civil penalties, and miscellaneous debts.
• Perform skip tracing and debt recovery activities in accordance with State statutes, ADOT policies, and procedures.
• Communicate with internal and external customers via phone, email, and written correspondence.
• Process credit card and check payments, daily deposits, bank levies, bond claims, and agency transfers.
• Validate, record, and report revenue transactions.
• Perform account analysis, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting functions.
• Write and maintain desk procedures and assist with system enhancement testing.
• Cross-train across departmental functions and provide backup support as needed.

• Collections experience.
• Must be local to the Phoenix, AZ area at the time of submission.
• Current location must be clearly listed on the resume.
• Available for in-person interviews within one week of posting close date.
• Able to start within two weeks of receiving an offer.

• Accounting experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
