SECURITY ASSISTANT (OFFICE AUTOMATION)

Summary You will serve as a SECURITY ASSISTANT (OA) in the Public Safety Division of NAVSTA GREAT LAKES SEC DET. Responsibilities You will maintain subject matter files and records that relate to work of the unit. You will receive incoming correspondence, screening material prior to distribution for suspense dates, establishing controls, and following up for supervisor. You will establish and maintain security records where you are expected to recognize, locate, and insert certain kinds of data/information You will be responsible for specific activities such as operating an established pass and identification system. You will use job-relevant information systems and/or software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, automated research tools, database applications, and the Internet. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing clerical support to an organization by maintaining files; 2) Reviewing and preparing correspondence; 3) Using databases, answering and directing visitors and telephone calls to the appropriate office; and 4) Approving access rosters and ensuring updates are posted promptly at designated access points for approved visitors.
