About the Role
The Company is in search of a Director of Development to play a pivotal role in the organization's mission to effect systemic change and promote social justice. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a three-person development team and will be instrumental in strengthening the fundraising function to support the organization's work in advocacy, policy, and legal services. This role demands a strategic and experienced leader with a proven track record in fundraising, particularly in the areas of institutional giving and diversifying revenue streams. The Director will work closely with the Executive Director to shape donor strategy, prepare for key donor interactions, and ensure the cultivation and stewardship of significant relationships. Applicants for the Director of Development position at the company should be adept at translating complex issues into compelling narratives that resonate with donors. The role requires a thought partner who can complement the Executive Director's expertise in advocacy with sophisticated development skills. The ideal candidate will be a compelling storyteller, capable of inspiring support for the organization's mission, and will bring a multi-year vision and execution approach to fundraising. A deep understanding of the nuances of fundraising for advocacy, policy, legal services, and systems-change work is essential. The Director will be expected to set clear priorities and goals for the development department, strengthen systems and practices, and create a roadmap for sustainable growth.
