In the exteriors discipline, the Senior Engineer is responsible to lead the 3DX CAD and engineering activities relating to the design and development of the vehicle exterior system. This position has a high level of responsibility and visibility and will interface with OEMs, Magna divisions, global module group teams and Tier 2 suppliers.Your ResponsibilitiesTechnical ResponsibilityContribute to the Global Technical Area (GTA) strategy and growth of the engineering teamLead the complete development and release of CATIA V6/SDX data and part designsLead benchmarking studies and contribute to the benchmark knowledgebaseDevelop the CAD technical solutions required for product and decisions requiredPrimary interface to the Customer Engineering and Program Management CommunityProvide design and development direction to CAE department for analysisSupport Launch activities at customer assembly plants and supplier facilitiesWho We Are Looking ForProject Planning, Target Achievement, Monitoring & ReportingEmploy technical expertise to lead the engineering development of one or more subsystemsSupport the project team(s) in achieving cost and timing deliverable milestonesLead external support, services and resources supporting the project engineering developmentLead the development of the RFQ / Spec Books for supplier selection processFacilitate and Lead Product Design Review meetingsBe responsible for designs meeting the project performance and cost targetsUnderstand and stay current on market region regulations, FMVSS, ECE, CNCA/GB, etc.Experience in injection molding plastic processProject Related Interface Support and Promote Project and Operations CollaborationCollaborate with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) to assure production feasibilityCollaborate with the design studio to assure product appearance harmonyCollaborate with Vehicle Development group on DFMEA / DVP / ValidationCollaborate with all cross functions to make complex decisionsCollaborate with the other project GTAsEmployee Related TasksEnsure cooperation with all areas within the engineering and request the required frame conditionsEnsure cooperation with project managementDevelop and build strong relationships with customers and suppliersDevelop and build strong relationships across the Global Engineering GroupsSecure knowledge of development tools within the groupCooperation with all Magna Steyr locationsEscalation problems at the earliest time with the appropriate team membersYour preferred qualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
