Quick Facts Location: Lafayette, LA Start Date: Immediate/As soon as possible End Date/Duration: Ongoing or as specified Shift: Typically 8-10 hours/day, flexible scheduling Hours/week: 40 hours/week (approximate) Employment Type: Full-time locums License/Certs: Active LA state license preferred; BLS/ACLS required Experience: Prior experience in cardiovascular or thoracic surgery preferred but not mandatory Pay & Benefits Pay Rate: $1.00/hour (note: actual pay to be discussed upon application) Benefits: Pay package discussed upon application; offers may include malpractice coverage, travel stipends, and other negotiable benefits What You’ll Do Perform inpatient rounding and surgical consults in a busy cardiovascular surgery setting Provide emergency room call coverage as needed Support clinic activities, approximately 1 day/week, managing 15-20 post-op patients Assist with procedures such as Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), Thoracotomies, Lobectomies, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repairs, Arterial Bypasses, and Aortic Valve Replacements Collaborate closely with surgeons and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes What You Need Current license as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in Louisiana (or eligible for licensure) Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Excellent clinical and communication skills Prior experience in cardiovascular or thoracic surgery is a plus, but not required About the Assignment This assignment offers the opportunity to work in a reputable facility in Lafayette, LA, supporting a busy cardiovascular surgical program. The team consists of two experienced cardiovascular surgeons and three Advanced Practice Providers, handling approximately 90 surgeries per month. The role involves inpatient care, surgical consultations, and ER call, providing a comprehensive experience in cardiovascular surgery.
