A bout the role
You will support systems analysis, design, documentation, and delivery for NYCWAY (Workfare/Engagement) alongside DSS/ITS staff. Engagements are on-site in NYC.
About NYCWAY
NYCWAY is the Workfare/Engagement system that ensures adult Cash Assistance clients perform work or training for continued eligibility. It originated in a UNISYS MAPPER environment and has grown for years with no project end date.
We are filling two related openings. Please indicate which track(s) you match.
Opening A — Systems Analyst
Ideal if you are strong in systems analysis on UNISYS mainframe and PC environments.
What you'll do
- Systems analysis, design, test planning, and documentation
- Write technical specifications; produce management reports
- Gather and document business rules from system users
- Develop system documentation and operational/installation procedures for databases, hardware, network, security, storage, and software
- Prepare general design documents that meet system and security requirements; develop structured diagrams and configuration documentation
- Support .NET program creation/testing as needed; assist other ITS programmers/projects

- Systems analysis, design, test planning, documentation
- Writing technical specifications
- Producing management reports
- Gathering and documenting business rules from system users
- Experience and knowledge of the UNISYS mainframe and the PC environment
Opening B — Systems Analyst
Ideal if you bridge BA / Agile delivery with web and data skills on legacy platforms.
What you'll do
- Develop system design specifications and alternative approaches that meet system and security requirements
- Gather requirements and gap analysis; document enhancements; structured workflows; legacy integration options
- BA activities, Scrum/Agile delivery, sprint planning
- System documentation, management reports, post-implementation docs
- Plan implementations/enhancements with ITS staff; design reports, audit trails/logs, security mechanisms
- Review production incidents; SME input on legacy solutions; testing/evaluation with developers
What you need (4+ years)
- Data structures, data manipulation, databases, design, testing and implementation
- Technical and user documentation, software conversion
- Exposure to Mainframe, Midrange, PCs, laptops
- Lead design of program specifications and implementation of software solutions
- Basic SQL/Oracle
- Front and back-end processing of web applications
- Business Analysis and Scrum/Agile methodologies and sprint delivery
