Job Title

Registered Nurse – Neuro PCU (IMC/Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM | Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block | One holiday expected per 13-week contract

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult patients with neurological conditions, including neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow
• Monitor and manage cardiac dysrhythmias; participate in Rapid Response and Code teams
• Administer medications and cardiac drips (no titration); manage IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Support respiratory needs including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Provide care within a unit that includes 5 dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring; maintain isolation precautions as required
• Float to other units within clinical skillset as needed; document all care using EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia state RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Required certifications: ACLS , BLS , and NIHSS
• EPIC charting experience required
• Comfort with a patient ratio of 1:4–1:5
• Must be available to work at least one holiday per 13-week assignment
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted; candidates residing 50–99.9 miles away may be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Neuro PCU, Stepdown, or IMC setting
• Familiarity with stroke management protocols and neurointerventional care environments
• Experience with continuous epilepsy monitoring units
