Transactional Senior Counsel, Legal Business Development & Corporate

Position Overview Genentech, a member of the Roche Group, seeks a strategic, experienced transactional attorney to provide legal support to Roche and Genentech’s combined global Corporate Business Development team and other teams within the Roche Group, with a primary focus on structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex bio‑pharma licensing and other strategic transactions. Key Responsibilities Structure, draft and negotiate in‑licensing and out‑licensing of patents and know‑how, research and development collaborations, and other strategic transactions. Advise on complex business and legal issues in support of ongoing partnerships and collaborations with external partners and integration of acquired assets. Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of market terms for licensing and collaboration transactions, and of issues relevant to drug discovery and development, including manufacturing of large and small molecules, antitrust, privacy and other matters. Contribute to cross‑functional or departmental projects, knowledge management and development. Qualifications United States law degree (JD) with current good standing admission to at least one U.S. state bar. Seven or more years of relevant practice experience, including at least four years at a law firm. Substantial experience drafting and negotiating life sciences licensing and collaboration agreements (please provide a deal sheet). Strong working knowledge of other complex and business development transaction structures, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and financing transactions. Ability to work global working hours as required, including being available as early as 6 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. Excellent judgment, interpersonal skills, organizational savvy and diplomatic sensitivity to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary and global colleagues. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or other life sciences industry. Compensation The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $203,800 to $378,400. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job‑related factors permitted by law.
