Sales Director

Industrial Automation & Advanced Manufacturing We are representing an established automation and manufacturing company providing engineered solutions across robotics, machine vision, industrial controls, material handling, and automated production systems. As the business enters its next stage of expansion, they are looking to appoint a Sales Director to take ownership of revenue generation, expand the customer base, and establish a stronger commercial platform for continued growth. The Opportunity: This is a senior commercial position suited to an experienced sales leader with a strong background in technical B2B environments. You will be responsible for identifying new sources of revenue, developing relationships with key industrial customers, converting major opportunities, and setting the direction of the sales team. The role offers significant exposure to senior leadership and close collaboration with technical and operational teams. Key Responsibilities: Set the commercial direction and deliver annual sales objectives. Generate new opportunities across automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing. Establish and maintain relationships with OEMs, manufacturers, and strategic customers. Manage the full sales journey, from initial engagement and qualification through to negotiation and close. Recruit, coach, and motivate a high-performing sales team. Maintain visibility across the opportunity pipeline and provide reliable revenue forecasts. Develop existing accounts while opening up new customer and market segments. Work alongside engineering and operations to shape solutions around customer requirements. Monitor industry developments and identify areas for further commercial expansion. Ideal Candidate: 10+ years of sales or business development experience within automation, manufacturing, engineering, robotics, or a related technical sector. Demonstrable success securing significant, technically complex projects. Background selling automation equipment, robotic systems, systems integration, or engineered manufacturing solutions. Previous responsibility for managing, mentoring, or growing a sales team. Commercially astute with strong influencing, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities. Comfortable engaging with technical teams as well as senior commercial and executive decision-makers. Experience across pharmaceuticals, medical devices, life sciences, or other regulated manufacturing sectors would be beneficial.
