Senior Accountant

About the Role: The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and driving strategic accounting initiatives within a professional services environment. Responsibilities Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, and ad hoc financial reporting Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis Ensure compliance with GAAP, state and federal tax regulations, and financial reporting standards Coordinate with external accountants and auditors to support audits, tax filings, and financial reviews Manage preparation and filing of 1099 and 1096 forms, state use tax filings, and business registrations Supervise accounting staff, provide mentorship, and support professional development within the accounting team Maintain and reconcile client trust accounts and vendor statements, resolving discrepancies as needed Research and implement technical accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements Support leadership with financial analysis, strategic planning, and operational reporting initiatives Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, GAAP, and financial reporting standards 2 to 5 years of accounting leadership or supervisory experience in a professional services or corporate environment Experience with month-end close, financial statement preparation, and audit support Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks and advanced Microsoft Excel skills Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data, prepare reports, and communicate insights effectively Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity Desired Qualifications Experience in a law firm or professional services environment Familiarity with modified cash basis accounting methods Knowledge of tax compliance, multi-state filings, and regulatory requirements Experience managing trust accounting and client fund reconciliations CPA certification or progress toward certification is preferred Experience with financial systems optimization and process automation initiatives #J-18808-Ljbffr Talnt
