Procurement Analyst

Xometry is seeking a detail-oriented, technically skilled Procurement Analyst to support our Procurement Excellence team in executing the Partner RFQ (Request for Quote) initiative. This role is critical to converting strategic, high-value manufacturing opportunities into orders by identifying the optimal partners, negotiating competitive pricing, and driving continuous improvement in the Partner RFQ process.

As Procurement Analyst, you will be the technical executor behind our pre-sourcing strategy. You'll analyze customer engineering drawings and CAD files to determine manufacturing feasibility, identify the best-fit partners from our pre-vetted network (50+ partners), and negotiate competitive pricing that balances partner margins with Xometry's profitability goals. Your technical manufacturing knowledge, analytical skills, and strategic business acumen will directly impact cost reduction, margin improvement, and revenue capture on strategic opportunities.

How You’ll Contribute

RFQ Execution & Technical Partner Selection:

• Execute the operational end-to-end Partner RFQ process, from opportunity identification through bid collection, award decision, and relay of feedback to partners
• Analyze customer engineering drawings, CAD files, and step files to assess manufacturability and identify technical requirements (e.g. tolerances, materials, finishes, inspections, etc.)
• Evaluate partner capabilities against specific job requirements and determine which pre-vetted partners are best-fit candidates (e.g. capability, capacity, lead time, and strategic fit)
• Distribute RFQs to identified partners with clear specifications, technical drawings, and quote requirements
• Track bid submissions and manage communication with partners to ensure timely response and clarification of technical or commercial questions

Technical Analysis & Manufacturing Strategy:

• Leverage your manufacturing and engineering expertise to evaluate design feasibility and assess manufacturability of customer parts
• Apply knowledge of CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication processes (including capabilities, material selections, post-processing options, and cost drivers) to work collaboratively with manufacturing partners in identifying cost-reduction strategies and manufacturing alternatives
• Partner with manufacturers to explore process options, material substitutions, or manufacturing approaches that can lower total cost while meeting customer specifications and quality requirements
• Communicate technical requirements and design constraints clearly to partner manufacturers to ensure accurate quoting and reduce back-and-forth iterations
• Review partner technical proposals and manufacturing approaches to validate capability and identify any manufacturability risks or concerns

Bid Evaluation & Award Strategy

• Evaluate and compare partner bids across multiple dimensions: cost competitiveness, technical capability, capacity, lead time, quality track record, and strategic fit with Xometry's goals
• Analyze competitive bids to identify pricing outliers, validate cost assumptions, and challenge high quotes with technical or strategic alternatives
• Negotiate pricing and commercial terms directly with partners to optimize Xometry margins while maintaining competitive partner pricing and partner satisfaction
• Award bids to selected partners based on total value analysis to maximize profitability and strategic benefit for Xometry
• Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, positioning yourself as a trusted technical resource and fair negotiator

Bid Analysis & Data-Driven Insights:

• Track and maintain comprehensive bid data for all RFQs, including bid count, pricing by partner, win rates, and lead times
• Leverage analytics dashboards and reports created by our Analytics counterparts to monitor partner performance trends, identify underperforming partners, and recognize market opportunities
• Generate insights from bid analysis to inform partner strategy, negotiate improved pricing, and identify partners best suited for specific opportunity types
• Monitor key performance indicators (bid participation rate, win rate, cost reduction achieved, margin improvement) to assess program health and individual partner contribution

Process Improvement & Optimization:

• Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and friction points in the RFQ process based on day-to-day execution and partner feedback
• Gather partner feedback on process pain points, turnaround times, clarity of RFQ submissions, and technical requirements
• Collaborate with product, operations, and finance teams to test and implement process improvements that accelerate RFQ bid cycles, improve bid quality, and enhance partner experience
• Document and standardize best practices, quoting approaches, and negotiation strategies to ensure consistency and scalability across the partner network

What You Bring To Xometry

• Bachelor's degree required in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
• 3-5 years of professional experience in manufacturing engineering, manufacturing operations, supply chain, or procurement roles
• Strong technical foundation in manufacturing processes, specifically CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication (tolerances, material selection, equipment capabilities, process sequencing, cost drivers)
• Proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings, CAD models, and step files; understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) required
• Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) or CAM software is a plus
• Design for Manufacturability (DFM) experience is a plus but not required
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with comfort working with data, spreadsheets, and metrics
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data visualization
• Excellent negotiation skills and ability to balance business objectives with partner relationships
• Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to manage multiple RFQs and partners concurrently
• Clear written and verbal communication skills with ability to present technical and commercial recommendations to diverse audiences
• Detail-oriented with strong attention to accuracy and data integrity in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Ability to work collaboratively across functions (Sales, Finance, Operations, Analytics) and with external partners
• Familiarity with procurement or supplier relationship management systems is a plus

The estimated base salary range for new hires into this role is $89,000 to $118,000 annually depending on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and location.
