Job Description Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional English Teacher with a SEI endorsement who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. Reports to: Principal/Head of School Responsibilities Teach English in an SEI setting, including content and skills in language, literature, composition, reading, and journalism using standards-based curriculum guidelines from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Adapt district curriculum materials and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge students. Participates in and contributes to a collaborative adult learning community. Qualifications – Required Hold a Bachelor’s degree. Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License in English at the appropriate grade level with either a SEI endorsement or dual certification in ESL. Meet all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and highly qualified. Demonstrate ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by Boston Public Schools. Have current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment. Qualifications – Preferred Experience teaching in urban schools. Degree in English or related field. Fluent in one of BPS’s official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali.
