Your specific responsibilities include assisting and providing relevant data to the public, professional partners, and laboratory staff of the Florida Department of Health's Division of Environmental Health in Highlands County. Receives, assembles, and reviews all Department of Health operating and construction permit applications for completeness prior to evaluation by management or environmental specialists. Answering incoming telephone calls, greets walk-in clients, takes messages, and routes inquiries to the appropriate staff. Coordinates routine field and facility inspection schedules between environmental specialists and clients. Organizes requests for services from clients. Distributes routine work for inspections and site evaluations by the Environmental Specialists for the onsite wastewater program, all regulated facilities, sanitary nuisances, and animal bite complaints. Provides information for all public inquiries as to the services of the Division, general application requirements for operating and construction permits, and associated fees. Receives payments for services and enters them into EHD. Reconcile the cash drawer daily and submit a copy of the Daily Report of Fees Collected to the manager no later than the following day. Balances the assigned cash drawer daily to input department totals and reconciles errors per the Petty Cash Fund policy (10APM32), when applicable.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include minimum knowledge of statutes, rules and regulations that pertain to the programs, or ability to locate these items. Ability to manage processes, work with others in a professional, considerate, and helpful manner. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Minimum- 3 years of office or customer service experience. Possess valid Florida Driver's License or able to obtain one prior to hire, Preferred- EH Database experience, 5 plus years of office or customer service experience.
