Senior Account Manager - Industrial Accounts

We are seeking an experienced Senior Account Manager to drive growth within a portfolio of established industrial accounts. This is a high-impact role focused on strengthening customer relationships, expanding business within existing accounts, and identifying new opportunities within a thriving industrial market segment.
This position is ideal for a sales professional who thrives in a consultative, relationship-driven environment and enjoys balancing strategic account management with business development activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and grow a portfolio of established industrial accounts, delivering against quarterly and annual revenue and profitability goals.
- Build and execute strategic account plans designed to increase customer penetration, expand key contacts, and identify growth opportunities.
- Develop strong relationships with customers through executive-level meetings, business reviews, line reviews, and ongoing account engagement.
- Analyze market trends, sales data, and customer insights to inform territory and industry strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support forecasting, demand planning, and sales and operations planning (S&OP).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer relationships, ensuring a high level of service and responsiveness.
- Represent the organization at customer meetings, trade shows, industry events, and field visits.
- Maintain accurate pipeline management, forecasting, and sales activity reporting through CRM tools.
- Proactively resolve customer concerns and escalate issues when necessary to protect revenue and strengthen partnerships.
Required Qualifications
- Proven success in B2B account management, territory sales, and business development .
- Experience managing and growing large, established customer accounts through strategic relationship building.
- Strong background selling tangible products within industrial, commercial, manufacturing, distribution, or related industries.
- Experience working with large channel partners and industrial distributors such as Grainger, Fastenal, Home Depot, HD Supply, or similar organizations.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to conduct corporate-level and executive-level business discussions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing long-term sales strategies.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in forecasting, reporting, and interpreting sales data.
- CRM experience (Salesforce preferred).
- ERP experience (Sage preferred).
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Work Environment
- Hybrid work environment with in-office collaboration Monday through Thursday and remote work on Fridays.

- Ability to stand for extended periods during trade shows and customer events.

This is a Permanent position based out of Waukegan, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
* The base salary range is $90,000-$100,000, dependent on experience. * Variable compensation is an uncapped, on-target annual amount of $20,000-$30,000, scaling with overperformance. * Variable compensation includes an annual portion and a monthly commission based on new product sales exceeding previous year's figures for assigned products. * This role does not receive a company annual bonus. * Additional incentives include a company phone, mileage reimbursement at 77 cents per mile, company credit cards (with employees keeping travel points), and per diems.
