Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac PCU RN with at least 2 years of cardiac progressive care experience and NC/compact RN license for a 13-week day shift assignment.

Details

• Cardiac Medical Progressive Care Unit with 30 private beds, providing care 24/7
• Focus on cardiac patients including CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization, rule out MI, syncope, and pacemaker placement
• Secondary focus on respiratory patients including COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP management
• Patient ratios of 1:4 with drips or BiPAP, otherwise mostly 1:5
• Rooms remotely monitored by the Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD)
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Weekend rotation and holiday coverage as needed
• Nurse Assistants available 24/7 and RN secretary support from 7a-11p
• Uses Epic EMR
• May float to any Cone Health campus as needed

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Cardiac PCU experience required and must be comfortable with 1:5 patient ratios
• Charge RN experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must pass a compliance EKG exam (2 attempts allowed)
• Skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, pre/post cardiac cath care, peripheral line and PICC line management, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, procedural sedation administration, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomy management
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips required
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams preferred

• Provide direct cardiac and respiratory nursing care within a progressive care unit setting
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, with no local rates offered
• RTO must be submitted at the time of application; no post-submission RTO requests accepted
