- Fredericksburg, Virginia Job Details Job ID: 5793118 Application Deadline: Jul 06, 2026 11:59 PM (Eastern Standard Time) Posted: Jun 22, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Aug 10, 2026 Job Description Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking a student-focused, dedicated hourly Paraeducators to assist teachers and other professional practitioners by providing instructional support in self-contained classrooms with students who have special needs (Autism, Developmental Delays, Multiple Disabilities, Learning Support and Behavior Support) whose educational needs are not met by a general education environment. Essential Job Functions Assist students with the organization and completion of daily work assignments Assist in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and healthy atmosphere, which may include assisting students with social skill development, personal hygiene, toiletry needs/toilet training Follow established procedures for monitoring and redirecting student behavior when supervising small groups Maintain and organize students instructional materials and/or cumulative files Administer and/or assist with preparing for various assessments for students as necessary Use special skills (i.e., sign language, transliterating, advanced computer training) to assist in two-way communication between the teacher and the student as necessary Perform additional non-instructional duties including, but not limited to, cafeteria duty, bus duty, hall duty, and office duty Education and Experience Required High School Diploma or GED Preferred Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university A minimum of two (2) years working with children within an instructional, educational or related setting Special Requirements Special education teachers assigned to work with students with emotional disabilities should have been trained in MANDT methodology and should receive additional training, as appropriate, annually. Employment Terms This position is classified as an hourly support role. The schedule for this position will be considered part-time and structured on an hourly, as needed basis. This position is evaluated annually.
