Office of Special Education Speech-Language Impaired Paraeducator - 26/27 SY Starting Date: Aug 3, 2026 Job Description Spotsylvania County Public Schools’ Office of Special Education is seeking Speech-Language Impaired Paraeducators to assist teachers and other professional practitioners by providing instructional support to students receiving virtual services for Speech-Language Impairments or related services evaluations. Essential Job Functions Assist students with the organization and completion of daily work assignments Assist in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and healthy atmosphere, which may include social skill development, personal hygiene, toiletry needs/toilet training Follow established procedures for monitoring and redirecting student behavior when supervising small groups Maintain and organize students instructional materials and/or cumulative files Administer and/or assist with preparing for various assessments for students as necessary Use special skills (e.g., sign language, transliterating, advanced computer training) to assist in two-way communication between the teacher and the student as necessary Perform additional non-instructional duties including, but not limited to, cafeteria duty, bus duty, hall duty, and office duty Education and Experience Required High School Diploma or GED Ability to successfully complete and maintain a Basic First Aid and CPR certification Preferred Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university A minimum of two (2) years working with children within an instructional, educational, or related setting Special Requirements Special education teachers assigned to work with students with emotional disabilities should have been trained in MANDT methodology and should receive additional training, as appropriate, annually.
