Assistant Automotive Service Writer
Bay Ridge Subaru is a trusted Subaru dealership serving Brooklyn and the surrounding communities. We pride ourselves on exceptional customer service, transparency, and a team-oriented culture. Our service department is growing, and we're looking for a dedicated Assistant Automotive Service Writer to support our Service Advisors and deliver a first-class ownership experience to our customers.
Position Overview
The Assistant Automotive Service Writer plays a key support role within the service department, assisting Service Advisors with customer interactions, documentation, and workflow coordination. This position is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in automotive service within a dealership environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet Subaru customers and assist with service check-in and vehicle information
- Support Service Advisors with repair orders, estimates, and service documentation
- Communicate service updates, completion times, and basic maintenance recommendations
- Coordinate with technicians to ensure accurate repair descriptions and timely workflow
- Answer incoming service calls and help schedule appointments
- Maintain detailed and accurate customer and vehicle records
- Assist with warranty documentation and recalls as needed
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and customer-friendly service drive
- Promote Subaru maintenance standards and customer satisfaction
Qualifications
- Previous automotive service, dealership, or customer service experience preferred but not required
- Basic understanding of automotive maintenance and repair terminology preferred but not required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced dealership environment
- Proficiency with computers and dealership service software (or ability to learn)
- Professional appearance and positive, team-oriented attitude
