Data Risk Oversight Senior Specialist

Job Overview Truist Financial Corporation is seeking a Data and AI Risk and Governance Specialist to provide informed risk oversight of emerging AI technologies, data platforms, and data architecture. The role requires strong technical literacy, risk management governance expertise, and the ability to translate emerging risks into actionable risk advisory practices. Key Responsibilities Drive successful execution of the EDRO Coverage and Operating Model, including risk advisory, effective challenge, and independent risk assessment responsibilities. Collaborate with key business partners and stakeholders to communicate EDRO Program requirements and expectations. Contribute to the execution and delivery of the EDRO strategic plan and supporting tactical plans/roadmaps. Ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, standards, and procedures. Drive effective issues management and remediation execution in alignment with the Enterprise Issue Management (EIM) Program. Support and facilitate data risk reporting and metrics to reflect and quantify data risk across the enterprise. Promote a strong risk culture, driving proactive risk management and remediation accountability across the enterprise. Perform effective challenge on covered areas for all significant data processes and initiatives prior to validation. Provide risk advisory to strengthen data risk controls and support the Single Point of contract for Data Risk areas within Business Units and/or Corporate Function. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in technology, data, business, and/or finance. Three plus years of experience in banking, technology, operations, risk management, and/or regulatory agencies. Three plus years of data management, governance, analytics, testing, and/or risk management experience. Strong business acumen, problem solving, critical thinking, influencing, and sound decision-making skills. Strong experience and understanding of risk and controls framework development, management, and measurement. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating the ability to build credibility and trust with all levels of management. Functional and technical knowledge of Data Management, Data Analytics, and Data Controls framework across data supply chains. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact, collaborate, prepare and plan in a highly matrixed and complex environment. Strong change management abilities and skills to effectively support and manage change and navigate through ambiguity. Preferred Qualifications Data compliance knowledge/experience regarding applicable laws/rules/regulations. Previous experience in a second line of defense or internal audit role. Familiar with Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) platforms, e.g., Archer. Deep knowledge of popular architectures, such as Transformer, RAG, and Agentic AI. Experience with GenAI/Agentic AI risk (prompt injection, hallucination, misuse). Technical/AI tool fluency to effectively identify risk and contribute to the design of governance controls. Collaborate and consult with peers and management to resolve issues and achieve goals.
