Head of Commerce Technology - Growth

Write code for Shopify Plus custom apps using Liquid, Node.js, and React Own and extend AWS Lambda functions connecting the OMS to the broader commerce stack Partner with the OMS team on backend integrations across order management, fulfillment, and downstream systems Evaluate complex technical challenges, identify appropriate solutions, and explain technical decisions Guide architecture and development decisions across the team Review technical approaches, identify risks, share best practices, and build scalable solutions Support engineers through technical discussions, code reviews, and collaborative problem solving Collaborate with Marketing, Merchandising, Product, and other teams to translate business needs into technical solutions Connect technical decisions to business outcomes and communicate complex ideas clearly Own technical vendor evaluations, including criteria definition, assessments, and recommendations Monitor the Shopify Plus roadmap and ecommerce landscape for platform changes and opportunities Evaluate features with attention to site performance, digital accessibility, and customer experience Contribute to AI-enabled deployment workflows, GEO and LLM product discovery, automated quality gates, and other AI applications across the commerce stack Requirements 7+ years of ecommerce engineering experience Strong, hands-on Shopify Plus experience, including Liquid, Shopify APIs, custom apps, Checkout Extensibility, Shopify Flow, metafields, and multi-market configuration Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda or equivalent serverless technologies, including building, troubleshooting, and maintaining functions Experience architecting integrations across ERP, OMS, CRM, payments, and fulfillment Ability to clearly communicate technical architecture and decisions to technical and non-technical partners Experience mentoring and collaborating with other engineers and sharing technical knowledge across a team Experience owning vendor evaluations, including setting criteria, assessing technical capabilities, and providing recommendations Flexible and adaptable approach, with ability to respond to changing priorities and feedback Solutions-oriented mindset and ability to identify creative, practical alternatives JavaScript / TypeScript, React, and Node.js GraphQL, REST APIs, and webhook-based integrations CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and automated testing Web performance fundamentals, including Core Web Vitals, page speed, and third-party script management Hands-on experience using Postman to troubleshoot, validate, and diagnose API behavior, including authentication, request/response payloads, environment configuration, and error handling Experience with GEO, LLM-based product discovery, or AI tooling within ecommerce is a plus Experience with founder-led, DTC, beauty, fashion, or lifestyle brands is a plus Curiosity about emerging ecommerce technologies and willingness to continuously test, learn, and improve Ability to balance technical depth with understanding of the customer and business Core Competencies Demonstrates extensive experience in ecommerce engineering with a strong focus on Shopify Plus, including custom app development using Liquid, Node.js, and React.
