Contracts Specialist

Salary: Up to $110,000 annually, based on experience Employment Type: Direct Hire Must Have: Government Contract experience Work Authorization: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Position Overview Our client is seeking a Contracts & Compliance Specialist to support the full lifecycle administration of government and commercial contracts while ensuring compliance with applicable federal regulations and export control requirements. This role is responsible for managing contracts from proposal through closeout, mitigating contractual and regulatory risk, and supporting business operations within a highly regulated aerospace and defense environment. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting government contracts, a strong understanding of FAR/DFARS requirements, and the ability to work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and government representatives. Key Responsibilities Contract Administration & Management Draft, review, negotiate, and administer a variety of agreements, including: Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) Subcontracts Teaming Agreements Purchase Agreements Commercial Contracts Manage contracts throughout the full lifecycle, from proposal and award through closeout. Interpret contract terms and conditions and provide guidance to internal stakeholders. Support proposal development activities and ensure contractual compliance during the bidding process. Maintain contract files, records, and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including: International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Export Administration Regulations (EAR) Monitor contract performance and identify potential compliance or contractual risks. Support internal, customer, and government audits, including DCAA and other compliance reviews. Assist with export control compliance, data protection requirements, and recordkeeping obligations. Collaborate with leadership to implement corrective actions and compliance improvements when necessary. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Operations, Finance, Procurement, Program Management, Engineering, and Sales teams to support contract execution. Serve as a point of contact for customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and government representatives regarding contractual matters. Provide guidance on contractual obligations, risk mitigation strategies, and compliance requirements. Support subcontract and supplier agreement reviews to ensure flow-down compliance requirements are incorporated. Reporting & Process Improvement Track contract milestones, deliverables, modifications, and compliance metrics. Prepare reports and documentation supporting management reviews and audits. Identify opportunities to improve contract administration processes and compliance procedures. Support training initiatives related to government contracting, export controls, and regulatory compliance. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Legal Studies, Finance, or a related field preferred. Experience 2–5+ years of experience supporting government contracts, contract administration, or compliance functions. Experience working within aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or another highly regulated industry preferred. Experience supporting contracts throughout the full lifecycle (proposal through closeout) strongly preferred. Required Skills & Qualifications Strong understanding of FAR, DFARS, and government contracting principles . Experience reviewing and negotiating contract terms and conditions. Knowledge of contractual risk assessment and compliance management. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word. Preferred Qualifications Experience with ITAR, EAR, and export compliance requirements . Experience supporting DCAA audits and government compliance reviews. Familiarity with ERP systems and contract management software. Professional certifications such as CPCM, CFCM, or NCMA certifications . Active U.S. Security Clearance or ability to obtain one.
