Senior Accountant #10799 – Montgomery, Texas / Dallas – Fin/Acct/HR – Direct Hire – Expiration: Jun 5, 2026 #10799 Job Description The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for owning key accounting functions for construction operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, efficient close processes, and compliance with GAAP. This role supports project accounting, cost controls, audits, and forecasting while partnering closely with operations and leadership. Responsibilities Accounting Operations Oversee weekly accounting activities, including payables review. Manage construction draws, and the related workflow. Maintain cost codes, job cost reporting, and GL accuracy within QuickBooks. Month end/Year End Close Prepare and review month end and year end close entries, including accruals and adjustments. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances. Analyze financial results and provide meaningful explanations to management. Audit Prepare schedules and reconciliations for annual audits. Serve as primary contact with external auditors. Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies. Reconciliations Prepare reconciliation of GL accounts. Record journal entries and follow up on the clearing of reconciling items. Policies and Procedures Document accounting policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen controls. Recommend and help implement system and workflow improvements. Forecast Assist in the preparation of weekly forecast. Other Assignments/Special Projects Support special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as assigned. Provide guidance and informal supervision to staff accountants as needed. Competencies Superior analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be detailed oriented and organized. Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 3-5 years of related senior level accounting experience. 2+ years of internal or external hands‑on audit experience is helpful. 2+ years of experience in data analysis. Proficient with Excel including the use of pivot tables and VLOOKUP. Energetic with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multi-task, adapt and apply learned knowledge to different situations. Experience in Real Estate or homebuilding is desired but not required. Must have a high level of communication skills both written and oral. Must have proven ability to work effectively in a team environment. Experience with QuickBooks for Real Estate a plus.
