Social Work Supervisor 2 (Transplant)

Job Summary The Social Work Supervisor 2 (Transplant Team) provides clinical and operational leadership for licensed clinical social workers supporting inpatient and ambulatory transplant services. Serving as a key advisor to transplant leadership, this role oversees daily operations, staffing assignments, and resource management while ensuring alignment with transplant center goals, regulatory standards, and patient care priorities. This position supervises social workers across adult and pediatric inpatient and outpatient settings, including career and per diem staff, and may oversee interns and other assigned personnel. Responsibilities include onboarding, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, mentorship, resolving staff concerns and grievances, and fostering professional development within a highly specialized transplant environment. The Supervisor maintains professional competence and participates in transplant compliance, quality improvement, and performance improvement initiatives, with opportunities for community outreach involvement. The Supervisor partners with interdisciplinary teams to address complex operational and patient care challenges, support policy and procedure development, and lead quality assurance activities. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Supervisor provides advanced social work interventions for patients with complex medical and psychosocial needs. Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) support patients with conditions that span the entire health continuum. Clinical Social Services staff are on‑site at UC Davis Medical Center 24 hours a day and seven days a week. LCSWs work collaboratively and in concert with physicians, nurses, utilization management, discharge planners and other allied health professionals. Clinical Social Services staff assist patients and their families by addressing and resolving the social, financial and psychological problems related to their health condition and facilitating patient movement through the health continuum.
