Sous Chef

Your Role As Sous Chef, you’ll oversee and assist all food production, food presentation, and back‑of‑the‑house activities. You will meet or exceed community food service standards, manage costs, and help maintain kitchen operations. What You’ll Do Assist chef with planning, staffing, organizing, and coordinating meal preparation at all levels of care. Help plan menus and menu cycles based on cultural and regional preferences and resident dietary guidelines. Adjust recipes to appropriate yield. Ensure compliance with assisted living food requirements and state standards. Monitor quality and consistency of food, including temperatures, portion control, palatability, and appearance. Assist chef with time‑clock management and budget compliance. Ensure compliance with resident dietary restrictions. Supervise cooking staff to maintain prescribed cooking methods, garnishing, and portion sizes. Give cooking instructions on fine points of cooking. Assist chef with monthly inventory of food items. Create custom holiday menus. Conduct regular Quality Assurance audits. Practice all safety and loss‑prevention procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate’s degree in culinary arts preferred. Minimum three years experience as a chef or kitchen manager in a food‑service environment. Successful completion of a recognized food‑safety course. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
