Assistant Nurse Manager Operating Room

Assistant Nurse Manager OR Hearts Pod 3 Position at Barnes‑Jewish Hospital, a 1500‑bed Level One Trauma Center with 24/7 cardiac services. The Assistant Nurse Manager manages staffing, clinical operations, and leadership for 13 OR suites within the Hearts Pod. Schedule & Working Hours 4/10 hour shifts, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM 3–4 shared calls per year, taken a week at a time by phone Key Responsibilities Manage 30 direct reports, including hiring, interviewing, training, performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions. Oversee staff scheduling, allocation to OR suites, overtime assignment, and payroll updates. Coordinate patient care according to planned interventions and document per policy. Create and implement collaborative care plans based on assessment and diagnosis. Generate staffing plans and lead meetings; prepare huddle agendas. Assist department in developing staffing, revenue, and expense budgets; ensure adherence to goals. Maintain equipment, monitor quality, and support safety‑sensitive operations. Participate in the development of departmental governance and policy. Qualifications Minimum 2–5 years experience in perioperative nursing management. Registered Nurse licensure. Experience with OR leadership preferred; cardiac surgery exposure a plus. Strong communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills. Preferred Requirements 5–10 years managerial experience.
