About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 Years License: RN License Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Must-Have: ACLS BLS NIH Description: The Progressive Care Unit cares for patients with moderate physiological instability requiring support. Examples of conditions treated include COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, congestive heart failure, and tracheostomy patients. Patients in this unit are hemodynamically stable and require cardiac and respiratory monitoring and management every 2-4 hours. The level of care provided in this unit is less than that of an Intensive Care Unit but more than what is found in Medical/Surgical Units. This unit specializes in the care of cardiac and pulmonary patients. Oxygen therapy is administered, including: Nasal Cannula for all patients BIPAP/CPAP up to 80% AirVo for Low Flow Nursing interventions occur at least every 3-4 hours and include: Vital signs monitoring every 4 hours Continuous cardiac monitoring Blood glucose monitoring every 4 hours Neurological monitoring as needed NIHSS assessments are performed as required. Dress code requires royal blue uniforms. Unit-specific policies and guidelines apply.
