Make a meaningful difference supporting young adults as a Special Education professional in a transition classroom setting for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This contract role focuses on students ages 18-22, providing full-time, onsite service near Kent, WA. You’ll work 37.5 hours per week and collaborate with an experienced team dedicated to empowering each student’s growth and independence as they prepare for adulthood.

Qualifications:

• Current and active WA SPED license and ESA certificate (verification required)
• Minimum of 5 years of special education teaching experience, preferably within schools, and firmly established in your career (please note, only deeply experienced candidates will be considered)
• Experience working in a transition classroom or with students aged 18-22 is highly desirable
• Strong expertise in developing and implementing individualized transition plans
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organization skills
• Availability to interview and start, recognizing the possibility of a 1-week delay for BIE adjudication

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver individualized instruction supporting students with diverse needs as they transition to adult life
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including related service providers and families
• Assess students’ progress and maintain thorough records in accordance with IEP mandates and best practices
• Promote life skills, job readiness, and self-advocacy through creative and engaging classroom strategies
• Actively participate in ongoing professional development and school initiatives
