Bring your extensive expertise in special education to an innovative transition classroom serving young adults aged 18–22 during the 2026–2027 school year. This full-time, onsite opportunity allows you to make a meaningful impact helping students develop critical life, vocational, and social skills within a supportive educational setting. You will play a key role in fostering independence and preparing learners for their next stages beyond secondary education.
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Special Education Teacher, preferably in school-based settings
- Valid Washington Special Education (SPED) license and ESA certificate; verification required upon application
- Strong background working with transition-age young adults, ideally within a school district environment
- Deep understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs), transition planning, and adaptive curriculum strategies
- Ability to thrive in collaborative, dynamic, and culturally diverse environments
- Clear communication and organizational skills to manage documentation and liaise with staff, families, and service agencies
- Willingness to complete the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) adjudication process (may add up to one week to onboarding)
- Availability for a full-time schedule, 37.5 hours weekly, onsite only
Role highlights:
- Deliver comprehensive instruction and develop transition-focused curriculum for students aged 18–22
- Assess individual learning needs and track IEP goal progress
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement transition plans
- Guide and mentor students as they acquire skills for independence, employment, and community participation
- Maintain compliance with all program, state, and federal requirements
