Staff Accountant

A San Diego-based engineering organization supporting government and commercial projects is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its growing finance team.This position is a great fit for an accountant who wants exposure to general accounting, project financials, government contracts, and financial reporting without stepping immediately into a Senior Accountant role.What You'll Be DoingAssist with monthly close and year-end close activitiesPrepare recurring and adjusting journal entriesPerform monthly balance sheet reconciliationsReconcile bank, credit card, prepaid, accrual, and other accountsAssist with project and contract accountingReview project expenses for appropriate codingTrack and reconcile project-related costsAssist with accounts payable and accounts receivable as neededPrepare financial reports and supporting schedulesAnalyze account activity and investigate unusual transactionsAssist with government contract reporting and documentationSupport annual audits and financial reviewsMaintain fixed asset and depreciation schedulesAssist with budgeting and forecastingHelp maintain internal accounting controlsIdentify discrepancies and work with internal teams to resolve them
