Senior Medical Director, Clinical Development- Nephrology

Vertex Pharmaceuticals seeks a Senior Medical Director to lead clinical development strategy for povetacicept in primary membranous nephropathy. The role involves designing clinical trials, preparing regulatory documents, managing cross-functional teams, and serving as medical lead for assigned studies in a matrix environment.

Responsibilities

• Define clinical development strategy and prepare clinical development plans for assigned compounds
• Develop study protocols, statistical analysis plans, and investigator brochures with minimal guidance
• Lead project teams and cross-functional groups to execute approved strategy and ensure high-quality study execution
• Prepare regulatory documents including clinical sections of INDs, CTAs, and responses to regulatory authorities
• Interface with regulatory authorities and serve as medical liaison between clinical development and internal groups

Requirements

• MD, DO, or equivalent ex-US medical degree
• 12+ years pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience in clinical trials and development
• Supervisory and people management experience
• Board certification or eligibility in a specialty
• Global clinical research experience and regulatory authority interactions
• Strong collaborative and independent problem-solving abilities
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Compensation: $280,600 - $420,800 base
