Join Our Mission Because Children Matter, LLC (BCM) Job: Accounting Clerk Reports to: CEO Position Classification: Non-Exempt Work Location: Compton, CA (Onsite) Hourly range: $26-$32 per hour DOE Because Children Matter, LLC (BCM) is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable, and technology-savvy Accounting Clerk to provide accounting and fiscal support services. At BCM, our work is centered on providing quality care for children and families as well as strengthening organizations and programs that serve similar populations. We are looking for an accounting professional who values accuracy, organization, accountability, teamwork, and excellent service. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment and is highly proficient in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and the use of technology to manage accounting records, documentation, communication, and day-to-day fiscal processes. Job duties: The selected Accounting Clerk will support BCM's fiscal and accounting operations. Responsibilities may include: Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions. Enter, review, and maintain financial transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Review invoices, receipts, purchase documentation, and other supporting records for completeness and accuracy. Assist with vendor setup, records, and payment processing. Reconcile accounts and assist in researching and resolving discrepancies. Maintain accurate and well-organized electronic fiscal records. Assist with payroll documentation and related accounting functions, as requested. Support monthly and year-end closing activities. Prepare basic accounting reports, schedules, and spreadsheets. Assist with documentation for audits, monitoring reviews, grants, contracts, and other fiscal reporting requirements. Utilize cloud-based technology and electronic systems to efficiently manage accounting workflows and records. Maintain the confidentiality of financial, employee, vendor, client, and organizational information. Provide additional accounting and administrative fiscal support as needed. What We're Looking For Successful candidates should demonstrate: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is required. Strong proficiency in the use of technology and the ability to quickly learn and navigate new software and cloud-based systems. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and electronic document-management systems. Experience providing accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or other fiscal support. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to prioritize assignments and meet established deadlines. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with BCM team members. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive financial information appropriately. Experience supporting nonprofit, government-funded, child development, Head Start, Early Head Start, or social service programs is preferred. Minimum qualifications AA in accounting, business administration or related field Two years of experience in accounting, providing fiscal support in a fast paced environment Proficiency in QBO Desired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field. Experience supporting nonprofit, government-funded, child-development, Head Start, Early Head Start, or social-service programs. Experience assisting with audits, grants, contracts, or fiscal monitoring reviews.
