We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Full-Charge Bookkeeper to join our team. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage the full spectrum of bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & Employee Administration
- Process weekly payroll through ADP, including timecard calculations and attendance tracking.
- Maintain PTO records and employee payroll files.
- Prepare payroll journal entries and process 401(k) contributions.
- Set up new hires in payroll and assist with onboarding activities.
- Administer employee healthcare benefits.
- Review, code, and enter vendor invoices into the accounting system.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and verify accuracy.
- Prepare ACH and check payments for management approval.
- Reconcile company credit card statements and maintain accurate records.
- Generate and enter customer invoices.
- Apply and post customer payments.
- Reconcile deposits and maintain accurate receivable records.
- Monitor AR aging and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and maintain operating cash balances.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Complete month-end close activities and financial statement reconciliations.
- Process monthly Workers' Compensation audits and reporting.
- Prepare and remit monthly and quarterly sales tax filings for NY, NJ, and CT.
- Assist with annual reports, state certifications, and regulatory renewals.
- Coordinate with external CPA firms on quarterly reviews and financial reporting.
- Maintain personnel records and employee documentation.
- Support DOT/UCR compliance and company certification renewals.
- Assist with quarterly estimated tax payments and financial reporting projects.
- 5+ years of full-charge bookkeeping experience.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing, AP, AR, bank reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
- Experience with ADP payroll systems.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy.
- Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation preferred.
