Accounting Supervisor

Position Summary The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, supervising accounting staff, and ensuring accurate and timely completion of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes. This role requires a strong leader who can effectively manage and motivate team members with diverse personalities and work styles while maintaining a collaborative, high-performance environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, ethical, and possesses excellent communication skills to partner with management and support organizational goals. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff to ensure high levels of performance and professional growth. Effectively lead and manage employees with diverse personalities, backgrounds, and experience levels. Foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative work environment. Delegate responsibilities appropriately while maintaining oversight of critical accounting functions. Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and address employee concerns professionally. Full-Cycle Accounting & Financial Close Manage and participate in the full-cycle accounting process, including: General Ledger maintenance Journal entry preparation and review Account reconciliations Accruals and prepaids Fixed asset accounting Revenue and expense recognition Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Review financial statements and supporting schedules for completeness and accuracy. Analyze financial results and investigate variances. Financial Reporting & Compliance Prepare and review financial reports to submit to Director of Accounting. Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls. Assist with external audits and provide requested documentation. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls. Communication & Business Partnership Communicate clearly and professionally with Director of Accounting and senior management regarding financial results, issues, and recommendations. Collaborate cross-functionally with departments to resolve accounting-related matters. Present accounting information in a manner understandable to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3+ years of accounting experience in a Management Services Organization (MSO). 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong full-cycle accounting and financial close experience. 2+ years of experience supervising or leading accounting teams. Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles. Proficiency with ERP systems specifically Sage Intacct and Microsoft Excel. Experience managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Hands-on leader who combines solid technical accounting expertise with strong people management skills Proven experience leading teams with diverse personalities, managing the complete financial close process, maintaining exceptional attention to detail, demonstrating a strong work ethic and reliability, and effectively communicating financial information and recommendations to management.
