Paralegal - Workers' Compensation

Summary/Objective Workers’ Compensation Paralegals work alongside attorneys and other paralegals, assisting individuals who have been injured on the job to file and pursue claims for workers’ compensation. Please note that this is a full-time, on-site position with a 37.5-hour work week. Responsibilities Electronic filing of claims and appeals Handle correspondence with claimants, medical offices, and agencies Extensive phone contact with agencies, clients, medical providers, and insurance companies Review incoming mail Prepare a case for hearings Assist attorneys with post-hearing follow-up Other duties as assigned Required Experience Strong knowledge of PC applications, Windows, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Exceptional phone etiquette and comfortable speaking on the phone Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to multitask Preferred Experience Workers’ Compensation experience preferred Paralegal experience preferred Work Environment This job operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Fast paced, professional work environment. Physical Demands/Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as calculator, copy machine and printer. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Occasionally ascends/descends stairs. The person in this position frequently communicates with coworkers, clients and/or outside vendors. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
