Budget and Contract Analyst

Job Overview Position Summary: The Human Resources Division is seeking a self‑starter & motivated Analyst I/Analyst II to collaborate with another analyst to manage the budget and contracts for the CalPERS Human Resources Division. This hybrid position allows up to 40% remote work. Final Filing Date: 5/24/2026 Salary Range: Analyst II – $6,031.00 – $7,547.00 per month. (New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or minimum alternate range when applicable.) Salary Range for Analyst I: $3,861.00 – $4,839.00; $4,181.00 – $5,233.00; $5,014.00 – $6,276.00. Responsibilities Maintain part of the HRSD annual budget. Receive, review, and prepare invoices for leadership approval. Provide consultation, interpretation, and recommendations to leadership and contract managers regarding the contract process. Determine appropriate contract award methods and lead the development, review, and approval of bid solicitation packages. Minimum Requirements Analyst II salary range: $6,031 – $7,547. Analyst I salary range: $3,861 – $6,276 (various tiers). Minimum qualifications as per the Class Specification (education, experience, training). Special Requirements Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) Provide a typed, titled “Statement of Qualifications” no longer than two pages. Include responses to the following: “Based on the Duty Statement, please describe how your education, skills, and experience correlate to contract management, budget management, and related processes? Additionally, how do you address process improvement and your ability to manage multiple priorities and projects?” Minimum Qualifications All experience and education relating to the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) listed on the Classification Specification. Copies of transcripts if using education to meet MQs. Evaluation of foreign degrees for US equivalency if applicable. Benefits Hands‑on experience managing multi‑million dollar budget.
