I.P. - Patent Agent - Life Sciences

Responsibilities Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom‑to‑operate analyses. Analyze patents and scientific papers to support patent attorneys on prosecution, counseling and litigation. Draft patent applications and responses to office actions. Participate in post‑grant procedures at the USPTO. Collaborate with attorneys and other team members and communicate complex technical information clearly. Qualifications Ph.D. (or M.D. with research experience) in Cellular & Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related life‑sciences field. 2–3years of experience in life‑sciences patent prosecution and counseling. Registered USPTO patent agent or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam. Broad scientific knowledge of biotechnology and strong analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to learn quickly and work well in a team. Employment Terms Full‑time position with in‑office requirements of at least three days per week, available at Fenwick’s Silicon Valley, Boston, New York or Washington, DC offices. Salary range: $112,500 – $250,000 USD, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Law school tuition assistance is available to qualified patent‑agent candidates.
