Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00 - 07:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Critical thinking skills EKG rhythm interpretation Experience with cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred Peripheral IV skills Experience with bipaps, high flow oxygen, and multiple oxygen delivery systems Experience with stroke and post-cardiac catheterization care Experience with tube feedings and NG/dobhoff tubes Description: The unit has a total of 59 beds. Patient ratios are 1:4 to 1:5 on days and 1:5 to 1:6 on nights. The unit is staffed with 3 techs when full on one side and 2 techs when full on the other side. Equipment utilized includes bipaps, high flow oxygen, vapotherm, Alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, and peritoneal dialysis. Wound vacs are managed in conjunction with wound care. The documentation system used is Meditech. Scheduling requirements include a commitment to work every other weekend. There may be a need to float between units or to medical-surgical floors. Hourly rounding is required on days and every two hours on nights. Communication boards are maintained for patient experience, with specific boards located in designated areas. The culture on the unit emphasizes caring for patients like family and promotes great teamwork. The unit supports self-scheduling with schedules created every four weeks. Travelers often choose to extend their contracts after their initial assignment.
