Accounts Receivable Specialist

Robert Half is partnering with a well-established service organization seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Lead / AR Specialist to join its growing accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on AR professional who enjoys building relationships, driving process improvements, and bringing structure to a high-volume receivables environment.

The ideal candidate will be equal parts collector, relationship builder, and problem solver. This individual will partner closely with sales, operations, project teams, and accounting to improve communication, reduce aging receivables, and strengthen collection efforts across a large customer portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Manage and collect on a high-volume portfolio of customer accounts.
• Monitor aging reports and proactively follow up on past-due balances.
• Build strong relationships with customers to improve payment performance and resolve disputes.
• Work closely with sales, project managers, and internal stakeholders to address billing discrepancies and collection obstacles.
• Navigate customer payment portals and ensure timely submission of invoices and required documentation.
• Investigate and reconcile account discrepancies.
• Identify opportunities to streamline AR processes and improve cash collections.
• Participate in collection strategy discussions and help drive best practices across the AR function.
• Maintain detailed collection notes and account records.
• Assist with month-end reporting and other accounting-related activities as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Accounts Receivable, Collections, or Credit experience.
• Experience managing a large portfolio of customer accounts.
• Strong business-to-business (B2B) collections experience.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal teams.
• Comfortable working with sales teams, operations groups, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience utilizing third-party customer payment portals.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to influence outcomes while maintaining positive business relationships.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems.
• Self-starter mentality with the confidence to suggest improvements and drive change.
