Our organization, located in Hagerstown, MD, is on the lookout for Core Faculty members to join our ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency program (MFMR). A primary objective of this initiative is to cultivate outstanding family physicians who can effectively serve patients, families, and communities. The program aims to motivate residents throughout their unique journeys while fostering their individual passions and ambitions as leaders in family medicine. This is achieved through intentional discussions focused on enhancing spiritual, emotional, physical, and intellectual capacities in the dynamic field of medicine. We are eager to find core faculty who appreciate these educational approaches in teaching, learning, and leadership.

Launched in 2019, the MFMR celebrated its inaugural graduating class in 2022. The program is currently accredited for 18 resident trainees (6-6-6) and has received commendable feedback during ACGME site visits, holding no citations to date. Additionally, the program enjoys robust support from senior leadership within the health system. The role will involve 0.6 FTE dedicated to administrative responsibilities and 0.4 FTE for clinical duties, which can be customized to align with your interests. Clinical responsibilities may encompass inpatient, outpatient, obstetrics, and/or osteopathic manipulation. The program has also achieved Osteopathic Recognition from the ACGME, with a preference for candidates who can perform and teach osteopathic manipulation, although this is not a strict requirement.

Our organization is dedicated to enhancing and supporting medical education at all levels as we transition into an academic institution. This evolution includes the establishment of the Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine, which welcomed its first cohort in July 2025, alongside a new psychiatry residency that also began in July 2025. Future plans for Graduate Medical Education (GME) expansion include the introduction of a general surgery residency, an internal medicine residency, a sports medicine fellowship, and potentially more. Core faculty members in the MFMR will have access to resources that assist the program director in advancing the educational mission of the organization, with backing from all organizational and community levels.

Core Faculty Qualifications:

• Possession of an MD or DO degree, along with current board certification and active participation in maintenance of certification by the American Board of Family Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians.

• Experience in teaching medical students and/or residents, either currently or in the past.

• Background in developing educational curricula.

• A proven track record of excellence and enthusiasm for clinical care, teaching, and scholarly activities that enhance clinical medicine and institutional service.

• A collaborative leadership style with the capability and desire to lead by example.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills that reflect professional behavior and serve as a positive role model.

• Eligibility for licensure in the State of Maryland, as well as CDS and DEA certifications.

• Qualification for medical staff privileges at our organization.

Core Faculty Essential Functions/Job Duties:

• Exhibit the evidence-based knowledge and skills necessary to deliver high-quality care across the full spectrum of Family Medicine patients.

• Supervise residents in various patient care settings and provide guidance to a panel of resident advisees.

• Engage in scholarly activities through one or more modalities recognized by the ACGME.

• Contribute to the creation of resident clinic and rotation schedules, and actively participate in organized clinical discussions, rounds, journal clubs, and conferences.

• Involve yourself in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety initiatives in both clinic and inpatient environments, and prepare and deliver lectures as part of the didactic curriculum.

• Take part in the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC) and the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC), as well as other medical staff committees.

• Oversee a specific area of the curriculum and/or rotations, which will be determined at the time of hiring based on program needs and the interests of the faculty member.
