Assistant Manager: Store

Job Description Responsible for managing restaurant operations, in conjunction with or in the absence of the Restaurant Manager. Uses discretion in daily management decisions with accountability for ensuring effective execution of the Service Profit Chain (SPC) and Brand Promise. Primary responsibilities include providing excellent internal and external service, building restaurant sales and profit while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Key Duties and Responsibilities Internal Service: Recruits, selects, trains, develops, and evaluates restaurant employees. Monitors staffing levels, ensures training systems are fully implemented, and identifies internal candidates for management and Team Leader positions. Works with the team to execute "My Promise to You" and the Service Profit Chain, creating a friendly, fun, clean, and safe environment; motivates employees to achieve high performance while adhering to company procedures. External Service: Manages daily activities to achieve excellence in operational performance. Ensures guests receive an exceptional experience through proper training and accountability for guest service and food quality. Monitors adherence to all JIB systems, procedures, and food safety requirements; maintains visibility with guests, responds to concerns in a timely manner, and ensures positive resolution. Higher Profits: Partners with the Restaurant Manager to analyze operational and financial performance each period using management information tools, including I&E, quality and service reports, health inspections, and HACCP. Identifies trends, develops action plans to increase sales and profitability, and protects the JIB brand while monitoring costs and budget adherence. Assistant Restaurant Manager Guest Focus: Passionate about delivering a high‑quality guest experience, consistently exceeding expectations through effective service techniques. Food Quality/Safety: Demonstrates strong awareness of food quality, safety, and restaurant cleanliness; promotes these values to the team. Business Management: Adapts to changing priorities, makes high‑quality decisions within policy and procedure, delegates work, and maintains organization and attention to detail. Performs other related duties, tasks, and responsibilities as required, assigned, and directed. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience: Minimum 1 year as a Shift Leader or Assistant Manager in a customer‑service environment (internal promote); or minimum 3 years as an Assistant Manager with P&L responsibility (external recruit). Must be 100% certified in all workstations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Minimum age 18; completion of Assistant Manager training classes; ServSafe certification; English proficiency (speaking, reading, writing); excellent interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills; self‑starter with initiative. Working knowledge of personal computers and related software. Valid driver’s license, insurance, and personal vehicle available for deposits and travel to other locations. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk approximately 85‑95% of the shift; lift and carry 10‑65 lbs; move freely throughout the restaurant; operate restaurant equipment and a motor vehicle; use a computer keyboard.
