This role ensures compliance with OSHA and other federal, state, local, and industry-specific safety regulations while supporting continuous improvement in safety performance within a manufacturing environment.The Safety Specialist partners with management and employees to implement safety programs, conduct audits, deliver training, and drive proactive accident prevention initiatives. This individual plays a key role in identifying hazards, reducing risk, and fostering a culture of safety.ResponsibilitiesSafety Compliance & ProgramsEnsure compliance with OSHA and all applicable regulatory requirementsConduct periodic safety audits to evaluate compliance and program effectivenessUpdate, maintain, and improve safety programs, procedures, and practicesSupport ISO 45001 implementation and ongoing system maintenanceIdentify hazards and implement controls to minimize or eliminate employee exposureAccident Prevention & Risk ManagementLead or support incident investigations utilizing root cause analysisRecommend corrective actions and assist with implementation upon approvalIdentify workplace hazards and improve unsafe conditions proactivelyAct quickly and safely in response to incidents or emergency situationsPromote a proactive safety culture focused on risk reductionSafety Initiatives & Key Focus AreasSupport New Hire injury prevention programs, including observations and engagementDrive Hand & Finger injury prevention effortsCoordinate and support Safety Board activitiesParticipate actively in Safety Committee meetings, providing guidance and resourcesContribute to continuous improvement initiatives in safety performanceTraining & DevelopmentConduct safety training programs across various shifts, including:New Hire Safety Training (backup to Training Coordinator)Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO)Confined Space EntryMaterial HandlingMachine GuardingTrain and mentor new Safety TechniciansPromote employee awareness through ongoing safety educationCommunication & CollaborationCommunicate safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to supervisors and employeesPartner with front-line management to reinforce safety expectationsProvide guidance and support to employees regarding safe work practicesCollaborate with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team on initiatives and reportingOperational & Administrative SupportMaintain safety records, audit documentation, and training logsSupport EHS team with technical and administrative tasks as neededEnsure adherence to hygiene, housekeeping, and safety standardsPerform additional duties as assigned by Management*These tasks are considered essential elements of the job.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in Safety Management or a related field or equivalent demonstrated safety experience in a manufacturing environmentMinimum of 3–5 years of safety experience in a manufacturing settingProfessional certification preferred but not requiredKnowledge & SkillsStrong knowledge of OSHA standards and workplace safety regulationsExperience with safety audits, inspections, and incident investigationsFamiliarity with ISO 45001 standards preferredStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysisEffective communication and training skillsAbility to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organizationStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAdditional RequirementsAbility to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentMust be willing to work flexible hours and support multiple shiftsAbility to work mandatory overtime as neededRegular attendance is requiredWork EnvironmentExposure to manufacturing conditions including noise, equipment, and industrial processesFrequent interaction with employees and supervisors on the plant floorEast Penn BenefitsEast Penn offers excellent benefits:Competitive compensationGroup insurance that includes medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage401K savings planAnnual bonus9 paid holidays and 10 paid vacation daysEmployee assistance programsFitness DiscountsPromotional opportunitiesSafety Glasses, Safety Shoes, and Uniform provided or reimbursed by the company.
