Assistant Nurse Manager - Neonatal ICU

Night Hours & On-call Night Hours: Can be a combination of 8, 10 or 12‑hour nights. 12‑hour night shift (7 pm to 7 am) required once a week for Leader Resource & Patient Facing Shift. Direct reports will be supervised. On‑call rotation for weekends & holidays. Role Purpose Coordinates patient care, personnel management, equipment maintenance, procurement, and statistical accumulation. Responsibilities Manages individuals (hiring, training, assigning work, evaluating performance, and developing professional plans). Ensures productivity and actions of the group meet the department’s operational goals. Participates in departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budget development and adheres to budget goals. Responds to business changes that may affect budget goals. Provides and oversees patient care according to planned interventions appropriate to age and developmental needs, and documents per policy. Creates and ensures implementation of a collaborative plan of care based on assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Supports review of staff hours worked vs. scheduled hours and determines appropriate disposition if variation exists. Performs and approves daily payroll updates. Reconciles time cards, bonus tracking and coding approval. Prepares, coordinates and executes staff communications; prepares huddle agendas and leads meetings. Determines staffing needs; makes nursing assignments and assigns overtime. Recommends effective annual increases. Interviews staff for open positions; evaluates and conducts performance reviews; drafts and issues corrective actions/coaching; follows up on disciplinary action to confirm compliance. Is responsible for staff productivity and overall departmental operational goals. Conducts performance evaluations and recommends areas for improvement. Minimum Requirements Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s in Nursing. Experience: 2‑5 years. Supervisor experience: None. Licenses & Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN). Preferred Requirements Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN strongly preferred). Experience: 5‑10 years. Supervisor experience: Preferred.
