At Fives we all have a part to play in achieving our common purpose. Your role will be to:

• Proactively attain a clean, safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
• Retrieve and study assembly instructions, detailed part prints, assembly layouts and parts lists.
• Gather parts/units, tools and/or material from inventory using a supplied material list.
• Prepare parts prior to assembly. This includes small sized unit assembly work.

Requirements

• Fives Giddings & Lewis is seeking a Precision Assembler to build, fit, align, and verify high-precision machine tool components and assemblies. This role works from engineering drawings and assembly instructions to ensure machines meet quality and customer specifications.
• Assemble mechanical components, subassemblies, and machine systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and assembly documentation.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
• Perform fitting, alignment, drilling, tapping, and assembly operations.
• Verify dimensions, tolerances, and machine specifications.
• Operate cranes, hoists, and other material handling equipment safely.
• Troubleshoot assembly and fit-up issues as they arise.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Support machine testing, checkout, and quality inspections.
• Mechanical assembly or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and work instructions.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to safely lift, move, and assemble large machine components.
