Charles R. Drew University is located in the Watts-Willowbrook area of South Los Angeles and was founded in 1966 in the wake of the Watts uprising. CDU was founded to address inadequate medical care in the region and to provide equitable medical education opportunities for underrepresented students. CDU offers the only historically black Doctor of Medicine program west of the Mississippi and is strongly invested in the local and regional community. The university leads multiple partnerships and programs to provide equitable healthcare resources in a variety of South Los Angeles neighborhoods.

The Program Coordinator will manage all administrative, operational, and logistical functions for two major initiatives within the College of Science and Health: The Biomedical Sciences Enrichment Program (BSEP) and the Bioentrepreneurship Initiative Pathway (BIP). The program coordinator ensures effective program delivery by managing recruitment, partnerships, communications, and student engagement while serving as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders. This position requires occasional evening and weekend work, as well as travel to conferences, to represent the University and support program participants. The candidate must be able to work on-site daily. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Manage recruitment and onboarding of students, mentors, and faculty, ensuring compliance with program requirements and deadlines. Coordinate specialized student placements and collaborative projects with biotech companies and external partners. Serve as primary student affairs contact, addressing and resolving student concerns, and connecting students to appropriate resources. Oversee program calendars and event logistics, including workshops, seminars, site visits, and national conference participation. Coordinate annual signature events (PitchFest, symposiums, student showcases), ensuring smooth execution and alignment with program goals. Administer program communications across multiple platforms, including websites, outreach materials, and internal updates. Manage data and program records, including attendance tracking, stipend disbursements, and evaluation documentation. Assist with grant management and budget monitoring, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with funding requirements. Represent the program at conferences and external events, traveling with students and faculty as needed. Coordinate with faculty, staff, and external partners to ensure program goals are achieved and strategic initiatives are advanced. Oversee day-to-day administrative operations including scheduling, email management, and document coordination. Execute special projects: gather and summarize data, monitor deadlines, and initiate follow-up. Manage the provision of technical assistance in resolving problems for faculty, staff, and students. Compose and produce business correspondence, reports, and related materials, or guide the work of other staff that prepare these materials. Manage and maintain confidential student files and records. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required; Master’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in program coordination, student affairs, or related higher education administration. • Experience managing events, partnerships, or workforce development initiatives preferred. • Prior experience with grants or budget tracking is highly desirable. SKILLS: Ability to analyze and solve problems. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to create, compose and edit written materials. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. Ability to monitor and train clerical staff. Database management skills. Records maintenance skills. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities PC proficient. Ability to utilize the MS Office platform, including Word, Excel, etc. Compensation: $72,384 - $79,000 annually Position Status: Full-Time, Exempt COMPLEXITY: The ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and care while providing/obtaining information on numerous inquiries is paramount to success in this position.
