Registered Nurse RN CVICU

Overview Banner Desert Medical Center’s Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) is a Level 1 Trauma Facility located in Mesa, Arizona. As a CVICU Registered Nurse, you will provide advanced care for patients undergoing complex cardiovascular procedures such as coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repairs, arch repairs, thoracotomies, and other vascular surgeries within a 7‑bed unit. Shift and Compensation Full‑time day (7:00AM – 7:30PM) and night (7:00PM – 7:30AM) shifts; 3 twelve‑hour shifts per week. Self‑scheduling tool available for shift and weekend coverage. 18% night‑shift differential and \$3 per hour weekend differential. \$15,000 sign‑on incentive for RNs with 1+years of CVICU experience; requires a 2‑year commitment. Responsibilities Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; review history and diagnostics with the healthcare team. Formulate and revise individualized plans of care, including discharge plans, based on assessment data and interdisciplinary input. Implement plans of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the healthcare team; comply with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise plans as needed to meet goals. Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in patient records; ensure legible, timely, and policy‑aligned documentation. Provide evidence‑based care and participate in research activities within clinical practice. Participate in unit or facility shared leadership; contribute to education, role development, and orientation of staff, patients, families, and visitors. Mentor or precept others to support professional growth when appropriate. Advise and support the improved quality indicators and outcomes in collaboration with healthcare teams; engage with external contacts and community providers for patient care coordination. Minimum Qualifications Active RN license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim/compact license). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Valid drivers licence with active auto‑insurance coverage (Home Health positions only). Companion fingerprint clearance card required for certain Banner locations (Arizona, Colorado, or Department of Public Safety LevelOne). One year of acute‑care RN experience in the last 12months (Banner Registry and Travel acute‑care positions). Experience in the Clinical Area applied for the position is desired. Maintained clinical performance competencies through annual validations. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (preferred). Professional certifications preferred.
