Exempt-C Richmond Hill, NY, US 4 days ago Requisition ID: 3115 Salary Range: $70,000.00 To $80,000.00 Annually The Senior Grant Accountant reports to the Sr. Director of Finance, and is responsible for financial management, accounting, reconciliation, reporting, and compliance of government, foundation, and other restricted grants and contracts supporting the organization's behavioral health, substance use disorder, and human-services programs. The position will have significant responsibility for programs funded by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), as well as federal, state, local, and private funding sources. Position also provides financial oversight of an assigned portfolio of grants from initial award and budget setup through monthly reconciliation, reimbursement, financial reporting, audit support, and contract closeout. The Senior Grant Accountant works closely with Finance, Program Leadership, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Purchasing to ensure expenditures are properly recorded, adequately supported, allowable under applicable funding requirements, and within approved budgets. Manage the financial accounting and reporting for an assigned portfolio of government and privately funded grants and contracts. Review grant agreements, approved budgets, amendments, funding requirements, and reporting deadlines. Establish and maintain grant budgets and appropriate general ledger coding. Perform monthly reconciliation of grant revenues and expenditures to the general ledger. Prepare monthly budget-to-actual reports and investigate significant variances. Monitor grant spending and proactively identify under-spending, over-spending, funding gaps, and potential compliance concerns. Prepare grant spending projections through the end of each contract period. Review expenditures for allowability, proper allocation, authorization, and adequate supporting documentation. Review and reconcile payroll and fringe benefit expenses charged to grants. Prepare and review grant-related journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and revenue recognition entries. Prepare and/or review grant claims, vouchers, reimbursement requests, and expenditure reports. Maintain grant accounts receivable schedules and track outstanding reimbursements through payment. Reconcile grant advances, receivables, deferred revenue, and cash receipts. Assist with annual grant budgets, renewals, budget modifications, and financial projections. Maintain organized grant documentation and a complete financial audit trail. Prepare grant schedules and supporting documentation for annual financial statement audits, Single Audits, funder reviews, and monitoring visits. Assist with preparation and reconciliation of the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA), when applicable. Monitor compliance with grant agreements, organizational policies, internal controls, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements. Work directly with Program Directors to review grant financial performance and provide timely financial information for management decision-making. Assist with fiscal year-end and grant year-end closing and contract closeouts. Identify potential questioned costs, unsupported expenditures, unspent funding, and other financial risks and elevate concerns to Finance leadership. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting with three (3) years of grant, contract, nonprofit, healthcare, human-services or government funding experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting. Demonstrated experience with grant reconciliations, budgeting, financial reporting, revenue recognition, and accounts receivable. Experience preparing or supporting government grant claims, reimbursement requests, or financial reports. Strong understanding of internal controls and financial documentation requirements. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and financial/data analysis. Preferred Qualifications: Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple grants and reporting deadlines independently. Excellent attention to detail and written and verbal communication skills. Experience working in a nonprofit behavioral health, substance use disorder, mental health, healthcare, or human-services organization. Experience managing New York State, New York City, or federal government grants and contracts (OASAS, OMH, etc.…) Knowledge of federal Uniform Guidance under 2 CFR Part 200. Experience supporting Single Audits and preparing SEFA schedules. Experience with restricted funding, cost allocations, government reimbursement, and contract closeouts. Experience with Sage Intacct or a comparable financial management/ERP system. CPA, MBA, or other relevant professional certification is a plus. #J-18808-Ljbffr
