POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Accounting Manager supports the Controller in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and ensuring an accurate and timely period-end close. This role is responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting preparation, payroll tax compliance support, budget preparation support, and supervises a small accounting and payroll team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Leadership

· Supervise Accountant II, Accountant I, and Payroll Administrator

· Assign work, monitor deadlines, and ensure accurate and timely completion of responsibilities

· Reinforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls

· Address performance and workflow issues as they arise

Accounting Operations

· Oversee daily accounting activities including accounts payable, and payroll coordination

· Support and coordinate the period-end and year-end close process to ensure timely and accurate completion

· Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for Controller review

· Assist in the preparation of internal financial statements

· Maintain general ledger accuracy in accordance with GAAP

· Provide variance analysis support for Controller review

· Support routine and ad-hoc financial reporting for store operations and leadership

· Prepare monthly sales and use tax filings and payments

· Assist in the development of the annual operating budget by gathering historical financial data and preparing supporting schedules

· Assist with the annual financial audit, including preparing schedules and providing supporting documentation

· Proactively identify opportunities to improve accounting and payroll processes and participate in projects that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall performance

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

· 3–5+ years of accounting experience (multi-location retail preferred)

· Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles

· Experience with period-end close and account reconciliations

· Familiarity with state and local tax filings a plus

· Prior supervisory experience preferred

· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

· Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a structured environment

· Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems

· Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics GP, UKG/Kronos, and SQL a plus
